Five Sessions to Community and Financial Confidence
Session 1
Setting Goals
A look at how to develop and set short- and long-term financial goals that reflect personal realities.
The second session encourages participants to think about things they would like to experience that require savings, and build SMART goals to create a path to achieve them.
This session also looks at different forms of financial supports that are available, like not-for-profit credit counselling, financial planners, and estate lawyers.
Financial Confidence
This session focuses on helping participants build confidence in their financial position and decisions by increasing the control they have over the flow of money through their account.
Creating and evaluating a budget, strategies for monitoring income and expenses, common expense categories to watch out for, and tools participants can use are all discussed.
Legal & Estate Planning
This session demystifies the estate planning process with a general overview of the important items and actors intended to enforce your final wishes, including a Will, and Powers of Attorney for both Personal Care and Property.
Participants will discuss the importance of creating a legal Will, and updating it on a regular basis. The roll of Powers of Attorney is also reviewed, including the importance of speaking with and appointing the right person.

Session 4
Next Steps & Important Considerations
This session encourages participants to reflect on the previous four sessions and talk about any changes or challenges they have encountered.
Financial fraud and scams are also discussed, including the process for reporting instances of fraud or scams encountered.
Finally, additional resources to support continued learning and growth are shared.
Session 3
Financial Wellness
A look at how financial stress impacts mental health.
This first session discusses different forms and causes of financial stress, and how those stresses can show up in our daily life - sleep issues, feelings of being overwhelmed, declining health, etc.
The goal of the session is to acknowledge the role finances play on our mental health, and remove the stigma often associated with talking about money, financial hardship, and feelings of stress and anxiety.
